Presenter

Kevin Bayuk

Description

As Permaculture design surges into popular consciousness it is often misconstrued or pigeonholed as a method of landscape design or a set of farming techniques.  While permaculture design will likely continue to be recognized by hallmark strategies like perennial polyculture food forests and natural buildings, all its techniques and strategies emerge from a ethical and principle-based framework and associated methods of design that can be applied to any facet of human settlement - including why and how we do business.  This presentation intends to share examples of how permaculture ethics and principles can be applied to innovate how we produce and exchange goods and services with each other.  Kevin will identify the ethics and principles by name, show image examples of how these appear in an urban permaculture setting and then share how these principles can be and are being applied to business.  No prior familiarity with permaculture design is necessary and questions and discussion will be encouraged with the intent to arrive at inspirational ideas for business innovation, empowering actions we can take home with us and a broader sense for how permaculture can be applied in the world.  This is for small business leaders, individual interested in starting their own innovative venture, individuals searching for right-livelihood opportunities and anyone interested in permaculture and the next economy.
