Course Description

Join us for a presentation, hands-on workshop, and interactive dialogue exploring the world of fungi, their powerful role in ecosystems, and how to cultivate edible and medicinal mushrooms at your home, garden, or farm! We will introduce participants to fungal biology, mycelial applications, and mushroom cultivation tecniques. Learn simple and proven techniques to grow edible and medicinal mushrooms in your backyard such as shitake, reishi, oyster, lion’s main and many others!  Also learn how mushrooms can be utilized to restore damaged soil and ecosystems. Participants will leave with mushroom kits that will enable them to grow edible mushrooms at home!

Participants will become familiar with basic mycological processes, which will enable a more clear understanding of mushroom cultivation’s myriad applications. The workshop will consist of periods of lecture combined with multiple hands on activities. Participants will inoculate their own mushroom kits, and will go away smiling ready to grow mushrooms at home. There will be room for open discussion and questions pertaining to all aspects of mycology and mushroom cultivation from beginners to more intermediate level practices.
